Lindy Harrington was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom as the State’s first Assistant State Medicaid Director effective April 2023.  Lindy’s role is to assist in administering Medi-Cal and provide additional leadership for the initiatives started in recent years to innovate and transform the delivery and quality of our programs.  

  

Prior to her appointment, Lindy served as the Deputy Director for Health Care Financing, Deputy Director of Administration, Financial Management Branch Chief, and as the Budget Officer at the Department. Lindy began her state career in 2000 on the then Department of Health Services’ Medi-Cal Anti-Fraud Task Force. She spent several years in the Payment Systems Division (now CA-MMIS) and then transferred to the Budget Office in 2006.  

 

Lindy earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Organizational Communication.
